This week is CMA week down in Nashville. There are performances all around town and starting Friday, there are big concerts at LP Field with all your country music favorites. It also means that the town swells with about 25,000 more people, all of whom seem to congregate downtown – if you plan on being down there and people watching, Nashvillest has a handy dandy bingo card for you to play with. This means that we here at Jackalope will probably not be going within a seven block radius of downtown, we’re frightened of large crowds in 100 degree heat. That doesn’t mean though, that we’re not hoping that some of the CMA celebrities stumble upon Jackalope on Friday night. So here it is, our letters to various country music stars:
Dear Darius Rucker,
We love you. Not it the creepy way, in the totally not creepy way. Check out this blog post, it’s entirely dedicated to you. We took pictures with a cardboard cut out of you. Look at how happy we are… We love your country stuff, but we make no effort to hide the fact that we also love the Hootie stuff. We appreciate how at the concert in October you sang “Hold My Hand”. That was awesome. You should come by the taproom, we promise we won’t ask you to sing “Let Her Cry” (but if you did sing it, we’d be cool with that too).
Love,
Jackalope
Dear Taylor Swift,
Look, we know you just turned 21 and you like to play up your wholesome image, but we think that you could drink a few beers and still be loved. We think you’re great. Bailey bought your latest CD almost as soon as it came out and we drove around listening to it for three solid months. That reminds us, you should release track number two, we like that one. Also, the track number ten… I think we all know who that one’s about. If your lyrics are any indication, we think you probably know a lot of good gossip and we’d love to hear about it over a beer.
xoxo

Dear Dierks Bentley,
You’re a very handsome man. We like your hair. Also, you play in the same hockey league as Intern Steve and we hear you like the 12th South Tap Room and so do we. Come by our tap room, we think you’ll like it. We know we’ll like looking at your hair.

Dear Dolly Parton,
We know you don’t drink. We don’t even think you’re doing anything for CMAfest. We don’t care. We just want to hang out with you and tell you how awesome we think you are. We think you’re really really awesome.
We will always love you,
Jackalope
